A powder room, 78 square feet- two rooms, one to house a toilet and sink and the other as an entrance. Originally the two rooms had a hideous laminate floor covering which was removed along with a terrible wall tile that was so disgusting I couldn't even post the "before" pictures.
So, let's remove the tile and sub-floor and then lay some marble tile down!
Each and every tile was hand picked by the owner and laid out in an adjoining room in the order it was to be placed with special attention to the direction of grain.
All of the trim for the Powder Room was fabricated by hand to match the formal Dining Room circa 1953, and it all starts with a rough hewn piece of Maple.
9 pieces of different trim had to be created, sawing, and routing. Some pieces required three router set-ups and multiple table saw passes.
Fabricate some panels and add the trim...
Over all progress:
Pipes, feeds for hot and cold as well as drain pipes were mysteriously located directly under the subfloor, careful precise cutting was involved...
The joists were out of level by 9/16ths of an inch over 6 feet, so they had to be planed.
A mildly distorted fish eye view of the bathroom wall...
Me and my square... Layout, so crucial in getting things to come together evenly.
Even the marble chair rail was labeled for the order in which it was to be installed.
This is just a sample piece, a lot of sawdust was involved in this process.
I'll spare you the grief of seeing a photo of every single piece, but the trim was a complicated process and I had to post at least a couple.
Moving on: Creating the wainscoting panels and then applying the trim.
Prime, paint!!
And the last bit of trim....
